Ever since I was a child, I enjoyed play acting and pretending to be other people, as well as doing character voices and such, like one of my all-time favorite voice actors Mel Blanc, who was the voice of Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the cat and many others. As an only child living in a rural area of Alabama, this was my way of interacting with and having friends, even if they happened, sometimes, to be imaginary ones.
When I was a teenager my father bought me a Dell desktop computer to do my school work. In time I became what some would call a "power user." I liked playing with PCs, particularly when we got a broadband connection because this enabled me to communicate easily with cyber-friends, and to search for schools with quality acting programs.
I found an acting school in Los Angles I really liked with a great curriculum and instructors who were working professionals. I thought this combination would enable me to perfect my craft as an actor, and perhaps find work too. At school one of my voice instructors, John, another computer aficionado, introduced me to a new class of software. His favorite, and in time, my own too, was voice and music altering programs made by Avsoft Corp.
As an aspiring actor and voiceover professional, I knew how important it was to study intonation, timbre, tonal qualities so as to perfect a character. Using Voice Changer Software (VCS) I was able to study all of these particulars in a precise way, while having fun too. It wasn't long before I was hooked on Avsoft's products.
From Acting School to Super Spy
After graduating from my two-year acting program with honors, and making many contacts in the field, I began to build my portfolio of voice characterizations. Advertising agencies I called on looking for gigs were often looking for someone who could produce a wide variety of voice work. While film narration and off-camera voice work, as well as industrial commercials and such require voice talent to work with what nature gave them, in the computer age VCS Diamond, Avsoft's truly stellar software has opened up a whole new world of opportunity for me.
Using VCS Diamond, sometimes I feel almost as if I am in a James Bond movie because of its advanced features. For example, Avsoft's too-cool software makes it possible for a male voice (my own, for example) to be altered to sound like a female voice in real time, and vice versa. A well, with VCS I can modify my voice during a chat session, which is just plain fun. After extensive testing, I was really pleased to find that VCS is compatible with all of the voice chat clients I use, such as Yahoo Messenger (YIM), AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), ICQ, and MSN, as well as multimedia players, like Windows Media Player, Winamp, RealOne Player, and even with Karaoke players and internet radios.
The Sound of the Future Is Here
I also like that Voice Changer Software can create a variety of voiceover audio clips that can be used for presentations. Since I approach advertising agencies frequently in search of voice work, this feature helps me to maintain a competitive edge, which means I can make more money. Definitely a good thing. A helpful feature for me is that VCS Diamond can record my altered voice in real time, or change it from an audio file, which gives me the rapid turnaround time and flexibility I need to succeed.
Whenever I reflected about my idol Mel Blanc's famous voice characterizations I found myself always amazed that Tweety Bird and Yosemite Sam were the same man! Even back then, long before the advent of Avsoft's software, Mel's impressive range of voices was partially aided by recording technology. For instance, Mel's standard Daffy Duck voice is essentially his Sylvester voice played back a few percent faster than it was recorded to give it a higher pitch. With Voice Changer Software you can create the same type of voice characterizations using your PC, and much more. This software is so advanced, yet easy to use, not to mention packed with fun features, I can't help but look forward to each new release of VCS Diamond.
